For the past few weeks I’ve been working on a new tool called goals which generalizes make. I did a quick talk at Red Hat about this tool which you can download from the link below:

Rich, would it be possible for this to be a Makefile generator (kind of like automake)? This would make deployment of this new gadget possible much before distros carry it.
I’m not sure you’d want to generate Makefiles. ninja files maybe? But goals as it stands has its own solver so as it is now, no.
Understood as to goals being self-sufficient. I’m thinking how to bootstrap use of the tool where its distro presence is difficult.
